About Us
With their love of coffee and prior business experience, Jon and Cathey Guthrie opened a quaint coffee shop/bakery back in 1998 called “Jack and the Bean Shop” which is located in Otis Orchards, Washington. As the business grew, the need for high-quality, fresh-roasted coffee became more of a concern. Not being satisfied with their current coffee supplier, Jon and Cathey decided to launch a new business in the growing metropolitan area along Government Way in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. The decision meant creating a new company to not only roast coffee and serve high-quality espresso drinks but to also offer a larger selection of fresh bakery goods as well as a breakfast and lunch menu.
With the daunting task of owning and operating Kootenai Coffee, Jon and Cathey invited Jon’s sister, Suzanne Guthrie, to leave her long-time career in a high-tech corporation and become a co-owner in Kootenai Coffee.
With a great deal of hard work and dedication, Jon, Cathey and Suzanne, opened Kootenai Coffee in February, 2006, and have been very blessed to see it’s success continue to grow.

Kootenai Coffee utilizes quality coffee beans from around the world in a slow roast process maximizing flavor and consistency. We offer a variety of coffees from light to dark roasts and several that are organic. We sell our coffee whole bean by the pound or offer custom blends for our wholesale customers.
